Getting 100,000 YouTube views isn’t as difficult as you might think.
YouTube marketing was the only social medium I used to use to market my websites back in the day. That includes everything from video production, Forex services, and even painters (the artists not the decorators). Obviously as I mature, which is a big assumption I like to make, I discovered a couple of nifty tricks to get my video content the ultimate exposure. It is simple, but extremely effective. Some of you might already be doing it.
Have a look at the following videos. They were all marketed using this method.

As you can see, all of these videos have tens of thousands of views. None of them have over a 100,000, but I didn’t use the strategy to it’s full potential. In fact there isn’t technically a ‘full’ potential. You could reach 1 million views if you really wanted to.
Below is an image of one the my clients from a couple of years ago. He got more than 1 million views on YouTube, was featured in the Huffington post, the Christian Post, and the Los Angeles Times. He also managed to get a radio interview out of it.
So how did I do it?
Well, you have to hire me to find out. Just kidding! Here is my step by step process. It is all about content –> seeding –> capitalizing.
Content – we all know this bit
Video content is incredibly important. Generally it needs to be a great looking video which gives people value. If you are smart enough to be spending time on this blog, you are smart enough to know that people just won’t share crappy content. Below is an example of great video content.

Affordable Video Seeding
This is probably the topic everyone is interested in. To be fair, it is also the bit which most people struggle with. Who do you seed with? Firstly, you want to get likes, favorites, shares and views. This is a priority in the first 48 hours. If you already have a following on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google + etc. then you should obviously make use of that. It will make your job easier, but this will work even if you don’t have a large social following to fall back onto.
Pay for your views. This does not give you an excuse to get fake views from Freelancer.com. This means “find a good video seeding platform and submit your video”. The service I will be using is Virool.com. I added my video to their system and bid at $0.04 per view. If you video is good, the actual cost will end up more like $0.03 per view.
You should aim to get between 30,000-40,000 views this way if your goal is 100,000 views. Paid views were only responsible for 250,000 out of the 1 million you see above. The rest came from people sharing the video.
The second little spot to seed your video is in the Tumblr and Twitter influencer circles. This is going to be difficult right? Wrong… again! Simply go to Virurl.com and pay about $0.03 per click to share your content. This platform is great, because you generally get about 5 times the traffic you actually paid for.
I only paid for about 10,000 views from here, but actually received 43,645 views. Only ever use these guys for a small portion of your views though. The traffic isn’t the highest quality and after a while the ROI sinks. So keep it to about 3-5% of your views.
Capitalizing & Consolidating Your Position
Now this is where it really heats up. Go to PRWeb.com and do a press release about your video i.e. “Unknown Artist Becomes Overnight YouTube Sensation” or “YouTube Makes Another Star Out Of A Nobody” or “Local Business Bamboozled By YouTube Success”. Something catchy. If you don’t know how to write a press release then go to Textbroker.com – I get all my releases written there.
If your press release title is captivating enough then you will be contacted by journalists and bloggers. One client I did this for was contacted by the Huffington Post and the Christian Post. He also received a couple of radio interviews. Now everyone wants a piece of your content.
Blogs will host your video, new fans will spread your video, and moms will name sandwiches after your video. Maybe that’s just my mom…
You don’t have to complete these tips to make it to 100,000 views, but it will guarantee that your video will reach for the stars.
- Add two months of link building with a wide variety of anchor texts.
- Write a 1,000+ word article on your blog about the specific keyword and embed the video – build links to this page too.
- If you have a big budget then place your video on Outbrain.com. That should really add some credibility.
- Keep referencing the mentions you get in the media on your social accounts.
- If you have an E-Commerce site then give everyone who shares your video a small coupon for doing it.
